Addressing practicalities in multivariate nonlinear regression for mitigating environmental and operational variations

چکیده

A significant problem associated with the implementation of Vibration-Based Structural Health Monitoring (VSHM) systems originates from detrimental effects caused by Environmental and Operational Variations (EOVs). The EOVs cause observations same structural condition to behave in different manners. As such, this leads issues when defining a robust baseline state as well making discrimination between undamaged damaged more challenging. In order address these challenges, multivariate nonlinear regression is implemented account for EOVs. Damage Sensitive Features (DSFs) are extracted acceleration data then regressed based on environmental operational parameters. New features effectively normalised finding difference measured predicted values. This process removes influence an explicit manner, allowing reliable damage detection. While benefit application methodologies has already been demonstrated past, work addresses number practicalities VSHM real systems. analysis investigates selection DSF investigated alongside another into how detection behaves under varying amounts input information. Furthermore, method proposed understand large outliers training data.

Multivariate Models for Operational Risk

In Böcker and Klüppelberg (2005) we presented a simple approximation of OpVaR of a single operational risk cell. The present paper derives approximations of similar quality and simplicity for the multivariate problem. Our approach is based on modelling of the dependence structure of different cells via the new concept of a Lévy copula. JEL Classifications: G18,G39.

Environmental Education for Mitigating and Assessing Environmental Impacts of Petrochemical Products (Vinyl Chloride) with Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) Method

today, with rapid advancement of industry and technology, many concerns about the adverse consequences threaten human life. The objective of this research is to investigate environmental education as an implement to reduce and evaluate the environmental consequences of petrochemical products based on the hierarchical analysis. The methodology was a survey of a statistical group involving 30 man...

NONLINEAR SCIENCE from Paradigms to Practicalities

by David K. Campbell No tribute to the legacy of Stan Ulam would be complete without a discussion of “nonlinear science,” a growing collection of interdisciplinary studies that in the past two decades has excited and challenged researchers from nearly every discipline of the natural sciences, engineering, and mathematics. Through his own research Stan played a major role in founding what we now...
